About
Brain art fair
The brain art fair was born, in part, as a response to the lack of meaningful expression and communication between the mentally ill and the mentally healthy. It affords people of all ages the opportunity to creatively express themselves and their struggles through art, writing, poetry, dance and any other medium works best for the individual.
About
Soulsprouts
SoulSprouts is the brainchild of someone who witnessed one of their loved ones go through mental illness without proper support and without enough grace. The organization is driven by a love of teaching and mentoring – especially those who struggle with mental health themselves. It is designed to address issues specific to communities of color.
Communities that are frequently left out of the mental health conversation due to systemic bias and a general lack of knowledge about mental illness and its etiology. The hope is that by educating, sharing and demonstrating compassion and empathy toward those with mental illness, grace can multiply outward, exponentially. The fight against stigma is also personal – the founder struggles with mental illness herself.
