Making an Impact
I like to give back to the community by working with organizations I support, making a measurable difference within the scientific community and beyond by sharing my knowledge and expertise
Volunteer Roots
It started with a simple question from someone dear to me …
“Are you working with him to hurt me?“
A question that pierced my heart, and would become motivation for the rest of a life I couldn’t even see

Impactful Initiatives
Although she grapples with social anxiety, Belinda takes opportunities to advance science, strengthen communities, and mentor peers and younger adults. By aligning her leadership, consulting, research and teaching with hands-on projects designed to make learning fun, she hopes to empower scientific development and promote education, and equitable access to scientific innovation, and mental health care across the globe. Belinda collaborates with nonprofit organizations, and youth STEM programs to mentor students, streamline grant processes, and promote open science, ensuring sustainable, inclusive participation across diverse communities.

Empathetic care
I love to take my empathy outside the lab and outside places frequented by neurotypical people. As a neurodivergent myself, it gives me a lot of joy to work with people on the spectrum. I find it rewarding communicate with little people that would otherwise by misunderstood. Given my own experiences as a child, I aim to help children feel as comfortable and included as possible, helping navigate sensory sensitivities and communication challenges that I have found to work for me.
